Marshmallow & Fenugreek by Nature’s Sunshine Products is designed to provide support for the respiratory system. This formula contains three herbs chosen for their supportive and nourishing effects. Marshmallow root comes from the marshmallow plant, so named because it grows in marshy areas. This herb is quite different from the puffy white marshmallows most people think of. The root of the marshmallow plant contains a high level of mucilage which, when combined with water in the body, creates a slippery gel-like substance that is soothing to the tissues.
Fenugreek is a multipurpose herb which is used for a variety of purposes including as a remedy for bronchitis, coughs and sinusitis. Like marshmallow, fenugreek also contains a high level of mucilage. The third ingredient in this formula, slippery elm, is also mucilaginous in nature and soothes sore throats and irritated respiratory tissues. Together these three ingredients combine to nurture and support the respiratory system and delicate tissues of the body.
